Things to Do — 4th of July — Santa Barbara
Celebrating the 4th of July in Santa Barbara is a treat, especially down by the Harbor. The crew at Chandlery Yacht Sales has some suggestions for you and your family that will make this a day you’ll talk about for years.
Celebrating the 4th of July in Santa Barbara – Morning Activities
We suggest starting the festivities early by grabbing breakfast at one of our favorite spots in the harbor, like On the Alley or Breakwater Café. After a strong cup of coffee and a hearty meal, you might want to burn it off by taking a walk along Ledbetter Beach or renting a kayak from Paddle Sports Center.
Celebrating the 4th of July in Santa Barbara – Day Time Activities
Then, starting at 12:00 pm, the Santa Barbara waterfront and Stearns Wharf will host a multitude of festivities including live music, face painting, vendor booths, and other family activities. They’ll also have local food for purchase, wine tasting, and lots more. All our favorite shops will be open on the pier and in the harbor, so you can shop for local treasures while enjoying ice cream – or wine! – between activities. Live music? Yes indeed. Bands will begin performing on Stearns Wharf at 11:00 am and on West Beach at noon. Take your time exploring the waterfront, relax, and get ready for the evening’s big event.
Celebrating the 4th of July in Santa Barbara – Watching Fireworks
Everyone’s favorite – the fireworks – will start at 9:00 pm. We think the best view in town is from the pier….but you can also see the show from Santa Barbara City College, Shoreline Park, the beach in front of the Yacht Club, on the breakwater, or even out on the water on a boat! The fireworks will launch from West Beach and last approximately 20 minutes.
We encourage you to stake out a viewing spot early so you can enjoy the display with friends and family. Another tip: parking can be difficult on the 4th, so walking, biking, or Ubering is strongly recommended!
